Welcome to IIT-(JEE) Joint Entrance Examination syllabus.in—

Admission criteria to undergraduate engineering programs at NITs, IIITs, Other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions, Institutions funded by participating State Governments, and other Institutions shall include the performance in the class XIIth exams and in the Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEEmain). The Paper-1 (B. E./B. Tech.) of IIT-JEE (Main) is also an eligibility test for the IIT-JEE (Advanced), which you to take for admission to the undergraduate programmes offered by the NTs. IIT Guwahati will conduct IIT Advanced in 2016.

JEE Main (Computer Based): 9th  and 10th  April

2-Tier Admission Process

JEE for admission to the undergraduate programmes in engineering is conducted in two parts:

(1) IIT-JEE-Main  (2) IIT- JEE Advanced

This two tier common test for NTs (Indian Institutes of Technology), NITs (National Institutes of Technology) and IIITs (Indian Institutes of Information Technology) has replaced earlier IIIT-JEE and AIEEE from 2013. JEE-Main performance and your class XII (or equivalent exam) marks This score is considered for initial screening. Weightage to Class XII Board Marks

Now, weightage is also given for the XII board or equivalent marks, though the percentage of weightage varies with the types of Institutes. The board marks are normalized on percentile basis through an appropriate formula.

Admission Process For “NTs”

For initial screening, a composite score is calculated with 35% weightage to class XII-Board or equivalent marks and the remaining 65% weightage to IIT-JEE Main performance. Based on these composite scores, a fixed number of students    (2.2 lakh) are considered eligible for admission . These short listed students are  ranked in the order of merit based on their performance in the IIT-JEE Adv examination. It is comoalsory  for you to get 75% marks or be in the top 20 percentile of your respective Class XII – Boards.

Admission Process for “Other Colleges”

If you are aspiring to take admission to NITs and other institutes only, then you requires to give only IIT-JEE Mains examination. There is 40% weightage for your performance in Class XII — Board marks normalized on percentile basis and 60% weightage of your performance in IIT–JEE Mains.

2016 “IIT-JEE” Q.P. Pattern

Both Main and Advance Q. paper are multiple-choice objective-type Papers. Durations of both the Papers is 3 hours (180 minutes) for each.

Eligibility Criteria for JEEmain

Applicants appearing XIIth or equivalent exam are eligible to apply.

Applicants are required to score min. 50-per-cent marks in aggregation of Chemistry, Physics, and Maths.

Applicant s should have minimum 5 subject in XIIth /qualifying examination.

A candidate can attempt for this exam for only three times.

Diploma (3 years) holders are eligible to apply.
